Safe and patient-centered breast cancer screening by next-generation dynamic thermal imaging and Artificial Intelligence

ThermoBreast was an EU-funded project that would advance early breast cancer detection and patient monitoring with its innovative screening modality.

ThermoBreast project

ThermoBreast was a Horizon Europe funded project involving a multidisciplinary consortium of 15 international partners from 11 countries. It aimed to contribute to the European Union’s Mission on Cancer and Beating Cancer Plan, striving to drastically improve the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of breast cancer, as well as reduce the burden on female patients, their families, healthcare professionals, and all others affected by breast cancer directly or indirectly.

EU Cancer Mission Cluster

One of the main aims of the European Mission on Cancer is to enhance cancer prevention for EU citizens. This involves improving the effectiveness of existing screening programs and conducting research to develop new screening tools that can be easily integrated into new programs at a national level. The European Commission has provided support and encouragement for this mission, resulting in collaborative efforts amongst seven EU-funded projects, united under the “Prevention and early detection (Screening)” cluster, which ThermoBreast was proud to be part of.

ThermoBreast officially ended on 11 September 2024.
